Meet Ms. Elle Brande, Newton’s Prototyping and Manufacturing Lead.

She has over ten years of experience in high-end model making including surface repairs and touch-ups, precision fabrication, and power systems (wiring, motors, batteries, switches).

After graduating from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2011 with a degree in Fine Art and a minor in Art History, Elle was selected out of 350 applicants to exhibit her ceramic, glass, and metal “artifacts” work at The National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts’ largest conference of the year in 2012.

Following graduation, Elle exhibited her personal works and worked for Red Dirt Studio creating and installing pieces with D.C. sculptor Margaret Boozer in museums and embassies, including the Smithsonian Museums Freer Sackler gallery and the American Embassy in Djibouti, Africa.

In 2013 Elle was hired by Alio Designs for her extensive mold-making, casting and sculptural background to direct all model making and prototyping activities. At Alio Designs she was responsible for creating and repairing detailed display models of everything from costume props to intricate NASA instrument models.

Elle made the transition to Newton’s team in 2015 and has since directed and aided in the production of some of our top modeling projects.

When she isn’t working hard at Newton, Elle enjoys performing aerial theatre in her spare time.

Check out some of these Newton projects that Elle has helped bring to life: F-35 Lighting II, SAM, Mars Rover, MOMA and LADEE, BAM, and WFIRST.
