As we head into this hot summer weekend, we’re getting geared up for National Meteor Watch Day on June 30th. We encourage you and your families to take a look upon the stars for an exciting display of meteors and shooting stars streaming across earth’s atmosphere.
There are a few ways to get a better view of these meteors by following NASA’s Meteoroid expert Rhiannon Blaauw. She states “for the best results, get away from city lights. The darkness of the countryside multiplies the visible meteor rate 3- to 10-fold compared to city views.”
So, gather some friends, a blanket, and find an open field far from the city and you will have a great chance of seeing a beautiful display of meteors. In case you need more guidance, check out this step by step guide for meteor watching beginners from earthsky.org.
